At House of Equilibrium the teaching method is based upon the classical repertoire of Joseph Pilates, incorporating the 6 Fundamental Principles of the Pilates method; Breathing, Concentration, Control, Centring, Precision and Flow, whilst adapting the exercises to suit the needs of today’s bodies. 


By incorporating these principles into lessons it makes them more specific and effective in helping improve your physical and mental wellbeing.​

My Style of Teaching

I teach a "therapeutic style" of Pilates where we move in a kind, nurturing way, incorporating relaxation techniques. I find this allows for a deeper connection between mind and body, improving mental wellbeing as well as releasing tension in the body.

 

The pace of my Beginner classes are intentionally slow as we perform isolated movements

I teach a "therapeutic style" of Pilates where we move in a kind, nurturing way, incorporating relaxation techniques. I find this allows for a deeper connection between mind and body, improving mental wellbeing as well as releasing tension in the body.

 

The pace of my Beginner classes are intentionally slow as we perform isolated movements, learning to recruit the right muscles at the right time to perform controlled movements.


Moving in this way helps students develop bodily awareness and understand their bodies more and how they feel/work.


This results in their bodies becoming more relaxed, stronger, healthier and less prone to injury.

Pilates teachers have different styles and methods of teaching. With me I want to ensure you are taught the key fundamentals and principles of Pilates before joining my regular classes to equip you with the right tools, understanding and confidence to progress safely.


It is a pre-requisite before joining a weekly class to have attended an "Introduction to Pilates" programme/workshop first.


Once you have completed an Introduction Programme, you will be given the opportunity to join a small group Beginner class.


A maximum of 12 student in each programme.

I teach at various levels from Absolute Beginner through to Improvers . All of my current classes are held at Horsley Village Hall. 


Pilates is a practice that needs to be consistent, therefore students are required to pay for their place each month to encourage regular weekly attendance. Beginners are also sent a recording to aid home pra

Pilates is a practice that needs to be consistent, therefore students are required to pay for their place each month to encourage regular weekly attendance. Beginners are also sent a recording to aid home practice.


Beginners (max 12 students)

For students on completion of "Introduction to Pilates"


4 week month             £40.00

5 week month             £50.00


Improver (max 15 students)

For students who have practiced with me for a minimum of 6 months


4 week month          £35.00 - £40.00

5 week month          £43.75 - £50.00

My aim is to help you to develop flexibility and good body alignment, resulting in you feeling stronger in mind as well as body with improved mobility.


Private lessons are also great for giving you some direction and building confidence if you are new to or returning to exercise after a break.

The first step is to register your interest and send us a message.


You will then be sent a Lifestyle questionnaire to complete which includes medical history and background information. This is reviewed and where necessary clarification sought for any current medical conditions, past operations, injuries etc.
