Meditate

A big part of my recovery journey following 3 lots of surgery in 2024 was to reintroduce good habits back into my life. Meditation has been one of them.

Since reintroducing meditation, I am finding it so much easier to steer my way back to full health.

After being off work for nearly 8 months I was overwhelmed, anxious and unsure of how things were going to go, and if I even had a business to come back too.

Meditation is helping me to not only heal, I'm also calmer, focussed, creative, making better decisions and positive about what the future holds.

If you are wanting to make changes to your life to help achieve a happier mind and healthier body then meditation is something you should consider giving a try.

What is Meditation?

Meditation is the act of quietening the mind through the practice of various techniques, encouraging focus and awareness whilst bringing about mental and physical wellbeing.

There are many benefits to taking up a regular meditation practice which include; reducing anxiety, stress relief, increased energy, better sleep, pain reduction and improved memory.

If your mind wonders, which quite often it will, you just gently take yourself back to your breath and sensations it brings.

I like to practice this in the morning or take myself off for 5 minutes during the day if I feel particularly anxious.

By bringing awareness and acknowledgment to whatever you feel or sense in the body, the body scan can be very helpful in working with stress, anxiety, and physical pain.

During this relaxation session, practitioners start at one end of their body and work through the whole promoting generalized feelings of calmness and relaxation as it slowly and steadily relaxes the body.

I like to use this for the relaxation element of my Pilates classes.
